About

Who We Are

In 2015, the initial idea for a better burndown chart was born from necessity. We were running large software projects in a complex, mission-critical domain, wrestling with challenges that plague software teams everywhere:

  • Project predictability was extremely challenging
  • Every deep analysis of a project caused the backlog to grow significantly
  • Software teams and business partners were frustrated by the project delivery difficulties

We had a simple hypothesis: if we had effort estimates and actuals data at the story level, combined with the right tools to aggregate data and assumptions, we could more accurately predict projects, systematically improve performance, make better decisions at every level—from first-line managers to the head of engineering—and ultimately deliver customer value more effectively.

Over three years, we developed and refined an early version of what would one day become the Red Line Burndown, using it to run large-scale software engineering projects within Jira. The transparency and visibility created by a burndown chart that could both document project assumptions and monitor real-time outputs became a catalyst for driving continuous improvement throughout the entire software organization.

Today, Crimsalytics’ Red Line Burndown brings these same battle-tested capabilities to teams everywhere, enhanced with new features like Analyze Burndown Changes. We’ve taken lessons learned from the trenches of complex project management and packaged them into a tool that enables software teams to drive performance and deliver value with unprecedented clarity.

Our Mission

Our mission is to unlock the full potential of agile teams by providing intuitive, powerful tools that make project planning and tracking simpler and more insightful. Born from real-world challenges in mission-critical software development, we’re committed to helping teams understand their performance, predict outcomes accurately, and make data-driven adjustments when they matter most.

We bridge the gap between project assumptions and reality, giving teams the transparency they need to continuously improve and deliver exceptional value to their customers.

Our Values

Quality First: We’re committed to building robust, reliable apps that teams can depend on for their most important projects.

User-Centered Design: Every feature we build starts with understanding real team needs and challenges through hands-on experience. We don’t just build tools we think teams will use—we start by figuring out what we need to run complex projects ourselves, then build and refine based on that direct experience.

Transparency: We believe in giving teams complete visibility into their projects. When everyone can see the full picture, better decisions follow. Driving total transparency in organizations may be one of the most difficult, uncomfortable, and rewarding missions a team can tackle—and we’re here to help make it possible.

Continuous Improvement: We listen to our users and continuously evolve our products to meet the changing needs of modern agile teams. The Red Line Burndown itself is a product of years of iteration and refinement.

Platform Experience: We build native Jira experiences that feel like a natural extension of the platform teams already know and trust. Our tools work the way Jira users expect, with a minimal learning curve.
